Job Type: Support Staff - Union Bargaining Unit: SSA Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: Position Summary Training Schedule will be Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and may be structured to cover the afternoon shift (12-8PM) if needed, with some flexibility. Occasionally, unconventional working hours may be required (weekends, holidays, overtime) based on need. The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will process biological samples for clinical flow cytometry tests for lymphoid, non-lymphoid and malignant immunophenotyping. Review and analyze test results using Beckon-Dickenson?s Diva software; and prepare test reports using FCS-Express software for the supervisor?s review. In addition, the responsibilities will include validation and implementation of new protocols, reagents and instrumentation, quality control/assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments, enforcing regulatory compliance and training of residents and new personnel. Responsibilities 10% - CD34 Enumeration 30% - Lymphocyte subsets 35% - Immunophenotyping for leukemia and lymphoma 20% - Data analysis and reporting 5% - Other clinical duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's degree & New York State Department of Education Clinical Lab Technician/ Technologist license or Histology Technician License plus 3 years of related experience OR BA/BS & New York State Department of Education Clinical Lab Technician/ Technologist License or Histology Technician License plus 6 years of related experience. Or equivalent in education, training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to work in an organized manner in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures. Experience with highly complex laboratory equipment and/or computer applications. Specialized theoretical understanding and practical experience in a particular area of research. Other Requirements Must successfully complete systems training requirement Ability to communicate effectively in English with colleagues and outside personnel. Impeccable record keeping skills, familiar with regulatory compliance and detail oriented in a clinical operation Dedication and commitment to patient needs, willingness to work overtime on emergency cases Ability to work in teams, good interpersonal skills A good degree of computer literacy (Word processing, Excel spreadsheets). Deep understanding of BD hardware (especially FACS Canto II instrument); and competency in Diva software is required. Familiar with De Novo?s FCS Express software is strong must.
