The SCIENCE DEPARTMENT at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) invites applications for a LECTURER position starting FALL 2023. The SCIENCE DEPARTMENT is undergoing a process of growth and renewal and would like to attract new faculty that will share and contribute to this process through teaching, research and guidance in the area of CHEMISTRY. They will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions for the good of the institution. SCIENCE DEPARTMENT faculty teach in the classroom a full range of courses in CHEMISTRY offered by the Science department. Main area of teaching will be in general and organic chemistry. Other areas of responsibility include curriculum development, participate in departmental and college-wide activities and committees, such as, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, mentoring student projects, and academic advisement. The qualified candidate must be able to work in either the Day or Evening/Weekend program, as needed by the Department. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully. Preferred Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have a strong record of teaching. Experience with teaching and learning technologies Experience teaching non-traditional urban college students. City University of New York and BMCC expect faculty to have a real passion for teaching and engage in scholarship and research in their fields. Candidates short listed for interviews would be expected to conduct a brief teaching presentation. COMPENSATION $52,072 - $74,575 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
