The Department of Surgery at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University is accepting applications for a faculty position. The Division of Cardiac, Thoracic & Vascular Surgery is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeons to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate must demonstrate a high level of expertise in all areas of adult cardiac surgery and possess 3-5 years of experience with mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. The role involves managing a busy cardiogenic shock program in collaboration with heart failure and interventional cardiologists. Responsibilities include preoperative assessment, operative management, and postoperative care of cardiac surgical patients. The surgeon will join our skilled heart failure cardiology team to contribute to the growth of a high-volume, high-quality program. We offer a comprehensive range of heart failure treatments, including heart transplantation, implantable left ventricular assist devices, and cardiogenic shock therapy. Strong interest in fostering professional relationships that support programmatic growth and development is essential. Interested candidates should have excellent clinical judgement, technical skills, professionalism, and demonstrate a strong interest in and history of peer-reviewed publications. In addition to clinical duties, the incumbent will teach medical students, residents, fellows, and physician extenders. Responsibilities include participation in the academic, and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery. MD. Completion of ACGME Thoracic Surgery Fellowship or Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency foreign equivalent Board certified/eligible, American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent.
