Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 hours Salary Range: Commensurate with experience Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Finance and Payroll, the Budget Analyst participates in a wide range of financial activities in support of the Libraries Operations budget including production of various monthly reports for senior management and Directors. The Budget Analyst assists in monthly and year-end closing activities; quarterly COB (Consolidated Operating Budget) variance explanations to the University?s Budget Office (OMB) and development and preparation of the Libraries annual operating budget. Responsibilities Under guidance from the Director, Finance and Payroll, prepares monthly forecast projections, including updates to the University?s budget tool, for all Libraries General Income (GI) funded operations projects including detailed payroll payroll forecasts by position and projected spending for non-payroll operations projects. Develops the annual personnel roster for all GI funded positions. Updates the personnel roster monthly for all Libraries positions and distributes to Libraries Directors and other senior staff. Produce monthly FTE/Headcount report, by funding source, for all Libraries personnel. Prepares monthly student casuals employee forecast report incorporating year-to-date spending by student/account/project and projections for balance of the year spending and distributes to senior managers. Assists in the development and preparation of the annual operating budget for Libraries Operations including submission of the budget, by account, through the University?s budget tool. As part of the Finance team, contributes variance explanations for the quarterly COB variance explanations submitted to OMB and the University?s Controller?s Office. Reviews COB detail monthly. Prepares ad hoc budget analyses and reports as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?s degree and/or equivalent related experience required. 2-4 years of related experience required. Strong financial and analytical skills, including expertise in Excel including pivot tables, data warehouses, reporting tools, queries and report preparation. Ability to manage highly sensitive confidential information with accuracy, discretion and integrity. Adept in situations requiring initiative and tact. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Service-oriented, well organized, and detail-oriented with strong project, time management skills and the ability to prioritize, think critically, identify potential issues and offer solutions. Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Strong preference for related budget/financial experience in higher education, non-profit or complex organization.
