The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a leading center for Translational Immunology. The laboratory of Dr. Megan Sykes in the Department of Medicine, CCTI, is seeking a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist in the Sykes lab to be the leading researcher to conducting work on externally- and internally-funded projects performing studies of human immune system mice in Type 1 Diabetes and other immunological conditions. Responsibilities include taking the leading research role to design, develop, and execute bench experiments, perform data analysis, summarize and present data, as well as prepare progress reports and manuscripts. 100 % of the Associate Research Scientist time will be devoted to research in the Sykes laboratory conducting advanced human immune system research experience. As an Associate Research Scientist, this appointment will be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Columbia Postdoctoral Workers-UAW Local 4100. Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Minimum Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols Ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data Extensive expertise with humanized mice Ability to perform experiments and surgeries in mice Other Requirements: Self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Should have outstanding organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and be able to work independently as well as within a team. Proactive, attention to detail and willingness to learn. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Prism, FlowJo and statistical software. Previous experience in handling and treatment of mice At least five years of post-doctoral experience. Preferred Requirements: Experience in managing collaborative projects.
