Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Director of Graduate Degree Programs, the Associate Director of Admissions, Recruiting, and Student Advising serves as a key member of the admissions and advising for the Office of Graduate Degree Programs ("OGP") at the Law School, with primary oversight for several recruiting and admitted student programs critical to the success of our enrollment management initiatives of our three day programs: The LL.M Program, the Executive LL.M in Global Business Law Program, and The J.S.D Program. Responsibilities Admissions Serves as a primary reader and senior member of the selection committee for all of our graduate degree programs. Responsibilities include: Review applicants for all graduate degree programs; Interview applicants (as needed) and make admission and advise on financial and merit-based aid recommendations and decisions; Assist Executive Director in continuing to refine a data driven admissions strategy by reviewing year-by-year trends by country, including yield outcomes by country, area of practice, law school, and employer, and help determine admission targets for those areas; and assist Assistant Dean and Executive Director with admissions yield management strategies for our Executive LL.M Program, to increase enrollment and yield; Collaborate with the Executive Director to update admissions, financial aid and merit aid policies and procedures as needed to admit students from geographies, backgrounds and cultures historically underrepresented in the graduate degree student population. Recruiting Assist with recruiting/yield management activities. Responsibilities include: In collaboration with the Executive Director, creating and managing Alumni Advisory Councils to partner with OGP in recruiting, admissions, and yield initiatives; In collaboration with relevant OGP colleagues, developing and managing admission/recruiting programs and initiatives; Leading and presenting in online and in-person recruiting and yield events; and Creating, managing, and executing the annual Admitted Student Programs for the LL.M Program. Academic Advising and Graduate Student Support Assists with academic advising for current LL.M. students and assists OGP colleagues with several initiatives and programs to support graduate student onboarding and overall experience. Responsibilities include: Responsibility for academic advising for a subset of our LL.M. population and referring current graduate students and alumni to the appropriate administrative offices, either at the Law School or elsewhere throughout the University, on matters such as payment of tuition and fees, financial aid, family issues, health matters, health insurances, grading/transcript questions, etc; Attend weekly advisor team meetings; Assist with the Director of Graduate Student Affairs with student engagement during the LL.M. program and orientation. Misc. Represent OGP at internal and external meetings and undertake other special projects requested by the Executive Director. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, preferably, plus a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required. J.D. or M.A. degree preferred. Experience in legal practices, law school administration, or in a professional environment characterized by complex demands, large workloads, deadline pressures, diverse constituents, and high client/student expectations, preferably in (but not limited to) academic affairs, admissions, or student affairs. Similar administrative experience at a major law school a significant plus. Required Competencies: Superior oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience. Demonstrated experiences working successfully with students of diverse races, religions, orientations, abilities, cultural backgrounds, etc. Experiences managing resources and working with technology vendors. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in the handling of sensitive and highly confidential information. Knowledge of or strong interest in understanding compliance standards related to recruiting, admissions, and student engagement in the law school context. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated capacity to advise and meaningfully interact with diverse, multi-generational constituents. Affinity for collaboration and ability to work well across all levels of organization. Ability to multitask and be part of a collegial team, and maintain calm under pressure while balancing competing tasks and emergences. Organizational and analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and meaningfully evaluate data. Technological and computer literacy, including familiarity with or strong interest in developing knowledge of ACES2/UNITE, Symplicity, and digital learning technology. A passion for, and commitment to, delivering exceptional customer service. Ability to travel occasionally and work some evenings and weekends Must me able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
