Overall Purpose of the Role
Provide support to the Global Banking Risk and Controls team and collaborate with global counterparts in Europe and Asia to manage and maintain an effective system of internal controls. The individual will have the ability to: • Direct strategic initiatives • Draft and implement standards and procedures for Barclays Banking • Collaborate with our partners to deliver the Banking control agenda across the regulatory and change management book of work • Engage in the governance framework activities to support the SMF6
Main duties and responsibilities • Manage a team (one Associate and one Analyst) • Run the RCSA execution process • Represent the Banking controls agenda in working groups and design authorities for Barclays and regulatory change initiatives • Run the execution of assessments across all lines of defense • Monitor Banking programs and initiatives for compliance to policies, standards and procedures • Provide support to bankers and assistants with requests for various business-related queries • Continuous development of process improvement for Banking globally e.g. best practices • Run ad hoc projects as it pertains to Banking initiatives • Training Banking employees on any new processes, procedures and changes in policy/standards. • Document e2e processes and ensure they are conformance tested to required standard • Assist in documenting risk events/act as event coordinator and monitor that events, issues and actions are addressed on a timely basis • Keep Banking on track in the closures of issues and actions
Stakeholder Management and Leadership • Role requires strong interpersonal skills, and to foster good relationships with Bankers – in addition to peers across Global Business Management teams and provide a ‘check-and challenge’ mentality throughout the day to day execution of tasks. • Act as a trusted and dependable team-member who can be relied upon for a variety of tasks. • Interact closely with infrastructure partners (e.g. Compliance, Audit, Operational Risk, Markets Risk and Controls, Chief Controls Office, Strategy, Regulatory Relations, etc.) • Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative and energy • Team player who is resourceful and efficient in leveraging the expertise of others
Decision-making and Problem Solving • Strong attention to detail • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment that is subject to frequent changes in priorities and assignments • Exercise sound judgment as to how/when to escalate issues, especially when dealing with difficult clients and/or critical business problems
Basic Qualifications • Skilled at the Microsoft suite of products • Effective Communicator • Confident presenter
Preferred Qualifications • Controls and/or Compliance experience • Understanding of the regulatory landscape for Investment Banks • Practical experience in financial services
