Assistant Director, Student Financial Aid Operations ? Fiscal Management POSITION DETAILS TheAssistant Director, Student Financial Aid Operations ? Fiscal Management supports federal loans and grants processing for CUNY?s 25 colleges and divisions. CUNY, the nation?s largest urban public university, serves more than 225,000 degree-seeking students, many of whom depend on financial aid. Ensuring accuracy and timeliness is crucial to their success. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid (SFA) Operations ? Fiscal Management, the Assistant Director ensures quality service to the colleges and assures delivery of accurate and timely payments to students. The incumbent also troubleshoots system issues, reconciles data with US Department of Education systems, and assures operational compliance with Federal Title IV, State, City, and institutional guidelines for financial aid, scholarships, and grants. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Examines fiscal records, student accounts, and related data for federal loans and grants, and resolves discrepancies with the University and the US Department of Education systems. Coordinates the disbursement, drawdown, and excess cash process for Title IV funds for the University. Maintains a strong working knowledge of Federal financial aid programs, policies, and regulations. Performs data analysis, reviews reports as needed, and prepares backup documentation for audits. Researches and evaluates issues raised by Colleges concerning processing, errors, enhancements, and coordinates the communication of issues to appropriate technical and operations staff, committees, and management; monitors issues through resolution. Assists with updating fiscal limits to allow the disbursement, Perkins Loan inquiries, and reconciliation. Attends and represents the department at various council meetings. Coordinates, develops, and updates training and resource materials for the Colleges. Interacts with the Colleges, Central Office staff, internal and external auditors, and administrators as appropriate. Provides support for daily functions by running various processes and communicating with College staff as needed. NOTE: Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. Preferred The ideal candidate should demonstrate or possess: Experience working in financial aid and/or bursar environment Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules (or similar processing technology) and database management programs Knowledge of financial aid Title IV regulations and programs Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Detail-orientated with strong analytical, technical, and research skills Organizational skills to plan and manage a large workload, conflicting priorities, and strict deadlines Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Supports CUNY campuses with Financial Aid systems, processes, data, and related issues. Assists with financial aid systems, including implementation, data quality, training, and troubleshooting Supports the implementation of new policies and procedures Serves as a liaison among different constituents involved with financial aid issues Understands and assures compliance with CUNY, state, city and federal rules and regulations Conducts special projects and creates analyses and reports Performs related duties as assigned. CUNY TITLE Higher Education Assistant FLSA Non-exempt COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The salary range is $70,238 - $79,188, commensurate with education, credentials, and experience.
