BMCC?s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is the office authorized to submit grants, accept awards, and oversee the management of more than $12 million in sponsored programs that support student programming, faculty research, and improvements to college activities. OSP offers the college community resources and support for grant proposal development and project management, facilitates the submission of proposals and the administration of funded projects to advance the college?s strategic priorities and its mission to provide instruction, research, and public service. Reporting to the Dean for Sponsored Research & Grants in the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Assistant Director of Grants will work closely with the Research Foundation of CUNY (RFCUNY) to ensure effective grant, contract, and fiscal management of sponsored programs. This person is tasked with helping to submit grants, negotiate receipt of grant awards, establish grant accounts, support and oversee grant fiscal management, and monitor for compliance with sponsors, RFCUNY, and CUNY policies. Additionally, the Assistant Director assists the Dean in communicating staff goals and priorities, drafting budgets, and developing policies, procedures, and systems that ensure productive and efficient office operations. Other duties include: Provide technical assistance and training to project directors/principal investigators on matters that may include using the RFCUNY.org system, managing and monitoring budgets, college, Research Foundation, City University of New York, and sponsor regulations and compliance best practices. Work with the Research Foundation to ensure the fiscal integrity of programs through timely and effective budget encumbrances, budget modifications, program extensions, submission of reports to agencies and other compliance issues. Draft negotiating points for the Dean in finalizing and accepting the contract terms, budgets, and budget revisions with funding agencies. Establish accounts for awarded grants. Monitor grant management activity to spot exceptions and issues; troubleshoot. Coordinate the issuance and reimbursement of salary advances between the college?s business office and the Research Foundation. Follow up with chairpersons, faculty, and administrators to obtain information on workload, released time, and replacement faculty to generate Staff Effort Notices for released time claims. Investigate, analyze, and assist in solving grant management-related issues. Monitor and report on the President?s 9th Ledger funds. Generate reports as needed for analysis of activities, as requested by CUNY or RFCUNY, or as requested by other BMCC units, such as the Budget Office. Participate in relevant professional activities and personal development in the field. Serves on college-wide committees. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. The successful candidate must have strong technical experience in grant managements, be familiar with public sector funding agencies, and have experience in preparing proposal budgets. At least six years of management experience in sponsored programs within a postsecondary environment is preferred. Knowledge of CUNY Research Foundation policies, practices and systems, and knowledge of various government agency program requirements and practices are a plus.
