Job: Adjunct Lecturer: AHUM UN1399 Colloquium on Major Texts of South Asia & the Middle East Job Summary: The AMEC Department at Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach AHUM UN1399 Colloquium on Major Texts of South Asia & the Middle East -- Spring 2025. Job Description: Course Description: Readings in translation and discussion of texts of Middle Eastern and Indian origin. Readings may include the Quran, Islamic philosophy, Sufi poetry, the Upanishads, Buddhist sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, Indian epics and drama, and Gandhis Autobiography. The exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities are determined by the chair. Strong candidate already identified. Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Preferred qualifications: terminal degree in related discipline strongly preferred. Stipend: $12,500 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
