Background:

Equitable has recently established a new organization tasked with (a) growing Institutional markets, (b) incubating New Ventures and (c) coordinating high impact inforce management activities across the organization. The organization also houses our existing Enterprise Strategy function. The organization reports directly to a member of the Equitable Management Committee.

Descriptions of each area include:

  • Institutional business – offer solutions to large institutional clients in the Retirement/Pension market (e.g. SecureAct solutions) and other similar markets.

  • New Ventures – incubate new product/business ideas that do not fit squarely within an existing commercial segment

  • Inforce initiatives – lead and coordinate projects to optimize value in our inforce portfolio, often in collaboration across multiple Equitable business lines.

The Actuarial Pricing Manager position will support the pricing, analytics and actuarial analysis for the entire organization, with a focus on institutional products and inforce initiatives. The position presents an opportunity to join a highly visible team at an early stage of its maturity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Pricing and analytics for institutional products for both existing and new product concepts

  • Project management for strategic inforce initiatives

  • Model development and ongoing maintenance or enhancements

  • Primary research into product markets

  • Business insights and recommendations for products, backed by data and market insight

  • Partnership management – both internal and external

The base salary range for this position is $135,000-$196,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 5 years of experience in a financial services company or consulting firm, with preference for experience within insurance

  • Understanding of insurance products and actuarial modeling (actuarial credentials not required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with financial modeling, problem solving, and projection systems preferred (e.g., Excel, VBA)

  • Established accountability, high integrity, diligent and self-starter work ethic

  • Proven organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated oral and written communicator (in both prose and PowerPoint presentation formats)

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Statistics and Actuarial Modeling: Knowledge of statistical and actuarial modeling tools and techniques; ability to apply modeling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions.
