The Academic Technology assistant manager reports directly to the Director of Academic Technology and works closely with the full time management team, as well as with other IT teams, sharing responsibilities towards quality of service and efficiency of AT facilities and operations.  The assistant manager performs administrative tasks in support of the overall operations of university wide computer labs and smart classrooms. The successful applicant will be a professional who has outstanding communication, organization and management skills with a strong sense of prioritization and the ability to coordinate tasks and projects, producing effective results within deadlines. A self-starter, yet with an acute sense of teamwork, excellent customer service skills, capable of working with a diverse population in a positive, supportive manner and available to work a flexible schedule. Efficient working knowledge of MS office is necessary. Comprehensive technical skills of multimedia and web applications and/or the willingness and the ability to learn fast are strongly desired.  This is not a technical position. RESPONSIBILITES  Help manage state of the art Academic Technology facilities. Work as manager on duty as scheduled overseeing day-to-day operations of multimedia labs, smart classrooms, and specialty facilities such as the Equipment Center and the Print Output Center, sharing responsibility of supervising and mentoring part time staff, and assisting users with comprehensive services, including basic technical workflow and advanced customer service scenarios. Mediate conflict towards resolution and perform sound judgment and decision making. Participate in managers meetings to review practices and produce input to improve operations. Act as interdepartmental liaison. Participate in committees and coordinate focus groups. Conduct research and prepare documentation for the meetings. Schedule and lead meetings, produce and divulge minutes. Follow up on recommendations and decisions made by committee implementing and communicating resolution. Maintain records and documentation; complete special projects as assigned, which may include: maintaining the Academic Technology web pages www.newschool/edu/at; hire, train, schedule and supervise staff, lead part time staff evaluations; create and update instructional and support documentation; process requests for access to services and use of facilities; review, update. implement and perform quality control of procedures and policies; create and maintain databases and compile relevant data related to usage of services and resources: research, deploy and maintain equipment and systems in support of lab services; follow up with purchase orders and repairs, among other routine and seasonal projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) and professional level work experience in educational technology or related field. Experience managing fast paced technology services facilities and sharing responsibilities with a talented team with strong technical skills. Experience managing part time staff. Team leader and team player. Effective and efficient project coordinator. Working knowledge of digital and/or print media workflow and interest in researching support and management systems. Advanced level of technical, communication, written and spoken, and administrative skills required. Must be able to provide documented management, computer, multimedia and customer service experience. Must have 1+ years of demonstrated experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS MA or MS preferable. Knowledge of web design and construction, and/or systems/database programming and maintenance is a plus.  WORK MODE On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-ONSITE Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends HOURLY RATE $23 - $28 per hour We look forward to receiving your application!
