Academic Program Coordinator - Study Abroad, Prestigious Scholarships -Provost POSITION DETAILS Reporting to the Academic Study Abroad Program Manager (HEA) with a dotted line report to the Director of Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships (HEO), this full-time position will support activities of two offices: the Education Abroad Office (EAO) and the Newman Office of Prestigious Scholarships & Fellowships (OPSF). Because these two offices share many students and the majority of our students who study abroad depend on scholarships, there are large areas of overlapping interest and responsibility. Primary responsibilities: ? Assist in recruiting and supporting students seeking to study abroad, including the organization and direction of information sessions, follow-up with potential applicants, collaboration with relevant offices, organizing classroom visits for recruitment of applicants, assistance with application preparation. ? Organize and facilitate Fulbright application/interview process, including communication with applicants, recruitment of faculty committees, scheduling interviews with candidates, submitting applications by Fulbright deadline. ? Serve as ?point person? on all study-abroad-related scholarships, including classroom recruiting visits, deadline reminders to applicants, coordination with Office of Prestigious Scholarships & Fellowships, and student follow-up. Secondary responsibilities: ? Organize and lead general, study abroad, and scholarship-specific information sessions and panels ? Meet with students individually or in small groups to advise on study abroad and scholarship applications and procedures ? Assist conducting research on new fellowship opportunities for students in our professional schools (Social Work, Education, Nursing), and other undergraduate fields, such as studio art, journalism, and media studies ? Assume responsibility for Director(s) in conducting office business management when absent QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications ? Bachelor?s degree required. ? Well-developed oral and written communication skills ? Strong student success orientation; ability to assume responsibility, take initiative, learn new skills, and work well both independently and in teams ? Proven ability to design and present well organized and informative programs/workshops ? Well-developed organizational skills: ability to manage time and handle multiple projects ? at once ? Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills ? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs Preferred Qualifications ? Proven record of working effectively with students, alumni, faculty, and employers ? Prior experience advising students planning to study abroad or for fellowships ? Proficient computer and web-based skills ? Related university or professional experience ? Experience with CUNYfirst, EAB Navigate, Blackboard, and website content management ? Experience managing student workers ? Existing knowledge of CUNY/Hunter procedures and systems ? Experience managing Fulbright application process and review, including organizing faculty committees and endorsing candidates ? Proven track record of success in attracting and supporting applicants for the Gilman Scholarship, CLS, CIEE, Freeman- Asia, Frederick Douglass, and Blakemore scholarships ? Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly between two offices that support academic success CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program. Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget Performs related duties as assigned.
