At Equitable, you will be exposed to tax procedures including the preparation of supporting workpapers on various tax returns and projects, including tax credits and deductions. You will have an opportunity to work alongside senior management and peers as a member of the internal tax team. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to learn new skillsets, be involved in office community activities twice a month and build lasting relationships with members of the Equitable tax team.
The base salary for this position is $22/hour
Location: Charlotte, NC or NY Metro area
This is a hybrid role, and it is required to be in office on an "as need" basis and is a Temporary position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of the federal tax return
Gathering and analyzing outside funds’ annual reports and other reports for foreign tax credit and dividend received deduction disclosures
Inputting data received from schedule K-1s and K-3s
Preparing other deductions workpaper
Inputting data for informational tax return items into Corptax return software
Assist in the preparation of state and city income tax returns
Prepare separate company state returns
Prepare city income tax returns
Process mailings of the state and city income tax returns
Assist with responding to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities
Assist with the paperless environment by scanning and saving business documents such as business licenses
Participate in in-office team days as needed
Network with your peers
Meet with tax team members for regular feedback and professional development discussions
Identify and carry out other projects as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance or currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Minimum major and overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 preferred
The willingness and ability to work a hybrid remote/in-office schedule
Preferred
Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
Strong technical aptitude and skillset
Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environment

Storytelling: Knowledge of concepts and ability to plan, create and present business proposals, initiatives and ideas by storytelling actual business scenarios that are situation-specific, engaging, memorable and persuasive as compared to one-way, fact-based presentations.
Written Communications: Knowledge of written communications issues; ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought, orderliness of presentation while communicating ideas, information and requirements effectively.
