We are seeking a Program Coordinator who will bring a combination of career-focused programming acumen, student career advisement expertise, and relentless focus on detail and project management to our team. Job Summary/Basic Function: TC NEXT (Navigating and EXploring for Tomorrow) at Teachers College, Columbia University provides current students and alumni with career advisement/coaching and postgraduate support, access to networking and community engagement, internships, research opportunities and fellowships, career identification and job search process assistance. Reporting to the Associate Director, Advising + Programming of TC NEXT, the Program Coordinator will bring a combination of career-focused programming acumen, student career advisement expertise, and relentless focus on detail and project management. The incumbent will support the Associate Director and team to manage student advising and programming initiatives, oversee program planning and evaluation, manage outreach and communications with internal departments, and execution of Advising + Programming-related events. In addition, this role will provide direct advising to TC students and alumni. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Programming Design + Execution Make data-informed recommendations for career-focused programming relevant to Teachers College students and alumni Develop innovative ways to deliver programming and provide career-related development and services to TC students and alumni Facilitate career-focused programming, including standalone workshops, courses, and asynchronous content Collaborate with relevant TC partners to build content (such as the Office of International Students and Scholars as well as academic programs) Work with the Advising + Programming team members to support delivery of Career Programs, including but not limited to: Development of programming content; scheduling; communication and promotion; and design and development of evaluation methods Possess knowledge and experience with current best practices in the operation of a comprehensive and innovative career education model as it relates to student advising and career pathways programming Work with the Advising + Programming team to develop digital, asynchronous career content for students and alumni Advising Conduct individual advisement sessions, group advisement sessions, mock interviews and additional services for students and alumni Utilize the current online student/employer database system to manage logistics of student appointments, information sessions, workshops, and panels Work with the TC NEXT database to manage advising schedule, solicit feedback, and share student needs with the team to ensure TC NEXT is offering relevance services Advising + Programming Team Support (10%) Participate in regular Advising Team meetings as well as TC NEXT team meetings Coordinate with the Employer Relations team in delivery of student career support Other duties as assigned (5%) Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field 3-5+ years of experience in Career Advising, Career Coaching, Employer Relations Experience with program planning/administration Excellent interpersonal, counseling and supervisory skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Attention to detail and impeccable follow-through Strong verbal and writing skills Strong computer skills,(i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) career-related software as well as the ability to use web-based technology. Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents, including students/alumni, faculty, and administration Ability to work some weekends and after business hours during events Preferred Qualifications: Career-related technology (i.e. Symplicity, Handshake, Banner, online job database, Interfolio, Inc.) Proven ability and experience working with a graduate student population Ability to demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to further drive program enhancements Strong commitment to the use of technology to foster a more efficient overall experience for both students and staff
