Description

Summary: Assist CFO with the oversight of NYSID’s financial management functions, including financial statement preparation, accounting, auditing, payroll / fringe benefits, cash flow, and asset management and investment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support the Supervisors, Accounts Receivable (Collections, Products and Services).

  • Prepare annual budget, financial forecasting and other periodic special financial reports for review and approval by CFO.

  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process. Work closely with independent auditors and garner required information. Review and prepare responses to reports prepared by the auditors.

  • Act as signatory for checks.

  • Oversee the entering of financial transactions into ERP System.

  • Run and produce financial reports, including general ledger, receivables or payables summaries, and check registers as required.

  • Complete month-end closing procedures and issuing monthly and quarterly financial statements. Includes, accounts reconciliations and schedule maintenance.

  • Responsible for accounts receivable, collection management, accounts payable and cashflow reports.

  • Report to CFO weekly payments to Member Agencies and all aspects of the accounts payable function, including weekly operating run.

  • Assist staff with accounting system issues.

  • Interact regularly with staff, customers and member agencies toward the resolution of problematic and delinquent accounts.

  • Foster a team environment with direct reports and the Finance Team.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimally a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Public Accounting experience helpful).

  • 7-10 years experience in finance or accounting position including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Skilled with using and overseeing accounting systems and in utilizing technology for generating reports, analyzing and forecasting trends, researching problems and training staff.

  • Demonstrable success in initiating cooperative working relationships, resolving customer, member agency and corporate partner concerns, and making timely and effective decisions.

  • Proven problem solving and mathematical ability.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high volume work environment.

  • Proficiency with various computer software applications including computerized accounting systems (Great Plains Dynamics preferred), databases, spreadsheets and word processing (preferable Microsoft Office Suite.)

Nature of job requires considerable computer, keyboard and mouse usage, walking around facilities and sitting for long periods of time. Salary: 90K- 120K
