HERC: Metro New York & Southern Connecticut Procurement Contract Manager in New Haven, Connecticut

Provides independent evaluation, review and negotiation of contract terms and conditions. Drafts, negotiates, and administers complex business contracts for the University's acquisition of goods and services under the direction and guidance of the Associate Director of Procurement and the Office of General Counsel. Supports the development of standardized contracting practices across the Procurement department. Supports the development of internal contracts training and contracts review resources for the Procurement department. Works with Buying and Sourcing team to ensure suitable terms and conditions are captured and fulfill the scope of the engagement while safeguarding the mission, policies and procedures of the university. Keeps abreast of policies and procedures impacting the administration of contracts and agreements. Collaborates with Procurement staff to develop and use metrics in monitoring contract review within the office to ensure effective and timely processing of contracts. Responsible for screening and escalating Procurement conflict of interest issues as they arise with suppliers. Ensures the highest levels of customer service, quality of agreements and turnaround times. Partners with other university offices in providing contracting support to university faculty and staff. Works closely with other University personnel in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, university forms and contracts. Supports the implementation of new Contracts Management systems. Prepares documentation for migration to new contracts repository. Participates in professional development activities and stays current with industry standards in order to maintain and expand areas of expertise. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Skill/ability 1: Thorough understanding of contract law and procurement processes. Required Skill/ability 2: Strong negotiation and communication skills. Required Skill/ability 3: Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Required Skill/ability 4: Ability to process multiple projects, set priorities, and work independently to meet objectives. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required Skill/ability 5: Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, problem solving and organizational skills. Preferred Education: J.D. Preferred Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day) Posting Position Title: Contract Manager, Procurement University Job Title: Procurement Contract Manager Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: J.D. Preferred Bachelor's degree required. At least 3 years of experience in the review, development and management of supplier contracts unless candidate has J.D. Must be fully knowledgeable in drafting, negotiating, and administering purchasing contracts. Prior experience in working with general counsel, law firms and/or legal departments. In-depth experience in evaluation and reviewing contractual terms and conditions. Expertise with Contract Life Cycle software. Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
