A postdoctoral position is available to study AI-enabled disease detection in wildlife at Yale University. This position is part of a collaborative project between Yale, the Smithsonians Movement of Life Initiative, and Microsoft AI for Good. The position will be based in the laboratory of Dr. Vanessa Ezenwa in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology ( https://ezenwalab.yale.edu/ ), and the postdoc will lead efforts to develop, test, and validate a machine learning-based pipeline for identifying and extracting data on large mammals from high-resolution satellite imagery. The candidate will use this information to examine links between the spatial organization of large mammal aggregations and disease prevalence. The ultimate goal of the project is to understand how high-resolution imagery can be used for disease surveillance in wildlife. The salary is $68,000 with benefits. Funding is available for up to two years, depending on annual performance evaluations. The proposed start date is negotiable but could be as early as December 1, 2024.
