HERC: Metro New York & Southern Connecticut Emergency Management Program Specialist in New Haven, Connecticut

  1. Assist with managing, developing and implementing VEOCI emergency operations platform which includes testing workflows and migrating all University business continuity plans into the system. 2. Maintain Emergency Operations Center equipment and supplies by updating status of all the EOC/Call Center VOIP phones, seats, and usable work spaces for departments. 3. Coordinate special event planning and day of coordination by using VEOCI documentation forms needed to set up for events. This includes preplanning for events, drawing up plans and facilities layouts, designating and selecting emergency exits, recording total number of attendees, and coordinating police and security presence. 4. Prepare and present emergency management educational awareness and outreach programs for the Yale community by providing awareness of emergency management principles through orientation presentations, instructive seminars, speeches, departmental meetings and maintenance of the OEM website. 5. Plans and executes drills and responses to simulated emergency situations. Conduct after action reviews and develop actions reports to share with assigned Yale University departments. 6. Maintain communication contact lists for Emergency Management Department which include personnel from Public Safety Department, local law enforcement and federal agencies. 7. Conduct annual reviews of emergency response plans, maintain and update business continuity plans for Yale University departments as needed based on their update cycle. 8. Provide BC technical assistance and support to departmental developing BC Plans including guidance on using VEOCI program. 9. Assist with the recruitment and training of emergency management volunteers for special events. Required Skill/ability 1: Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Required Skill/ability 2: Demonstrated ability with MS Office Suite. Required Skill/ability 3: Knowledge of business continuity & emergency management software (Ex VEOCI, Archer). Required Skill/ability 4: Ability to multitask, be flexible and work effectively with ambiguity and change. Required Skill/ability 5: Ability to work irregular work hours as needed. Preferred Education: Experience in managing a diverse workload and multiple simultaneous projects.
