What is Bend by FNBO? Bend is the team within the walls of FNBO to help us revolutionize consumer payments by creating digital credit card experiences. Bend by FNBO moves with the speed and agility that modern FinTech customers expect while driving loyalty and value through card payments.

What is CaaS and What are we Building? We are building a modern, API-driven credit card platform enabling non-bank entities and digital-forward companies to embed credit card programs and issuance into their own brand experience offering seamless user experiences on any device, web or mobile. Our Credit Card-as-a-Service ("CaaS") solution is a collection of cloud-native APIs that are built using a modern technology stack; shifting away from how legacy card issuers work today.

How are we building it? The CaaS team is a Product-led organization, working “outside-in” to ensure we are focused on meeting the customers’ needs up-front. This means, we obsess over delivering high-value experiences for strategic partners, brands and customers.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Head of Product, The Product Manager position is responsible for using product development practices to innovate and evolve the Bend Product in support of our mission to provide embeddable credit card experiences. This role will be responsible for owning capabilities, strategy, and a roadmap of the Bend product and creating a product strategy and roadmap that aligns to customer needs and business outcomes.

Role Objectives

  • Create and manage API strategies, roadmaps, project plans, and API specifications.

  • Collaborate and conduct product discovery with customers, and partners to gather inputs to assess cross-partner value, scope of effort, usability, and priority of product features.

  • Use continuous discovery to develop a deep understanding of the CaaS target customers and to translate customer needs into innovative solutions.

  • Deliver customer value iteratively, managing products through various launch phases and follow-on releases

  • Ensure successful product launches by working cross-functionally with various teams in the organization.

  • Assist in the QA process by identifying key use cases and defining priority of identified issues

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop API and related product collateral such as product descriptions, presentations, training and sales tools for a strong go-to-market and customer support plan

  • Work as part of an agile team along with engineers, designers, marketers, business stakeholders. Harness their collective knowledge and drive the planning to take product concepts from idea through validation, execution, measurement, and iteration. Translate ideas and requirements into stories.

  • Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation

  • Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments

  • Use API-first methodology to design simple and powerful API products

  • Use interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with peers, stakeholders, and customers to ensure proper communication and collaboration among teams.

  • Identify opportunities for new or existing API Products to grow the API Marketplace, and to attract a new customer base and create a source for new revenue growth

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a product manager or equivalent experience successfully shipping or deploying API products in an agile environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, UX Design, Computer Science, or another related field

  • Creative product thinker who loves collaborating with cross-functional teams; product, engineering, analytics, marketing, design and sales

  • Core product execution skills such as managing scope, working with partners, creating milestones and roadmaps, and breaking work down into user stories and requirements

  • Excellent technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, APIs, programming languages, and databases

  • Strong understanding of JSON format

  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs

  • Experience using API testing tools such as Postman

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems and drive business outcomes

  • Ability to define and translate a vision into detailed and actionable plans

  • Has worked in an Agile development setting and can drive backlog grooming and prioritization

  • Ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to conduct product discovery and definition workshops

  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers, business, vendors, and team members

  • Well organized, self-driven and detail-oriented individual who is capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in an environment with a start-up mentality

  • Illustrates humility, honesty, and transparency with co-workers

  • Endlessly curious in how emerging digital trends can translate into best-in-class customer experience through digital channels
