Assistant/Associate Professor - Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (15334)TheStatler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West VirginiaUniversity (WVU) invites applications for multiple tenure-track facultypositions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of computerengineering, computer science, and cybersecurity. The appointment shall be inthe Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Specialtyareas of interest for this search include, but are not limited to cybersecurity,software engineering, networking, computer systems and architecture, theory ofcomputer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision,and biometric identification.WestVirginia University is the comprehensive Land Grant University of the State ofWest Virginia with a main campus enrollment of over 29,000 students, and aCarnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity (i.e., R1 University).Morgantown is a safe, inclusive and family-friendly community with a regional populationof about 137,000 residents and is ranked among the most livable small cities inthe country. The Lane Department of Computer Science and ElectricalEngineering has significant research and teaching activities in the areas ofcybersecurity, computer vision, machine learning, and biometric identification. Moreover,through its collaboration with WVU's comprehensive Health Sciences Center(HSC), the Department conducts cutting-edge work in the fields of neuroscienceand digital health. WVU is designated by the NSA and DHS as a NationalCenter of Academic Excellence in both Cyber Defense Research and Cyber DefenseEducation. WVU is the founding site in the multi-university Center forIdentification Technology Research (CITeR), an NSF Industry/UniversityCooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) with many center-funded opportunities fornew faculty working in biometrics, machine learning, and computer vision. In 2018, the Lane Department launched a newundergraduate degree in Cybersecurity and offers both undergraduate and graduateareas of emphasis in Cybersecurity. Significantresources are available to attract top-notch students into the program. For instance, a recent grant from theNational Science Foundation has created 120 annual scholarships over five yearsfor undergraduates studying cybersecurity. The Department also offers a graduate area of emphasis in ComputationalData Science.
