Your Impact

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the strategic merchandising execution functions that drive merchandising space planning, visual space planning, store environment, planograming, conceptual design and the Lowe's Design Center for our stores. This role will drive our Company's mission by providing leadership, innovative solutions and driving results to ensure the Company delivers the right home improvement products, with the best service and value, across every channel and community we service. This will be accomplished through expert knowledge of the store environment space, building & maintaining key stakeholder relationships and motivating teams to drive business results. The Sr. Director role will also be responsible for partnering with peers in Merchandising Execution to improve processes in order to improve the effectiveness of organizational plans and goals. In addition, this role will make strategic decisions which have direct impact to store standards, customer experience and profitability by approaching the business strategically and shifting/adjusting plans to ensure stores are profitable.

What you will do

  • Provide expert leadership over strategic projects and workstreams that have broad cross-functional and enterprise level impact. Partner with store operations, core merchandising and field merchandising to ensure alignment of enterprise strategy and project/program strategy.

  • Lead key cross-functional initiatives that span over several functions of the enterprise by evaluating and understanding customer insights, market trends, competitive intelligence, and other forces impacting current and future business performance.

  • Provide leadership to the customer experience design team, responsible for design and implementation of customer focused presentations and new concepts. Goal is to ensure latest industry trends and styles are to the forefront of store environment and visual merchandising standards are met so that the final design solutions are rooted in human centric concepts, research, and analytics to reduce cost, improve store operations and increase customer loyalty.

  • Lead the Lowe’s Design Center (LDC), a prototype lab that supports creative thinking and problem solving for omnichannel merchandising, vendors, visual merchandising and concept design teams as they work through product live reviews and innovation projects.

  • Lead the visual merchandising team through development of floor plans and design of planograms. Ensures the adoption of qualitative and quantitative inputs such as consumer decisions trees, planogram design standards, attachment/affinity analysis and space optimization models, to maximize space productivity i.e. sales and margin return on space.

  • Work closely with the GMMs and MVPs to define space tactics required to deliver business strategy and category growth. Subsequently guides the Visual Space and Space Planning team to deliver experiences and planograms for merchant initiatives, product line reviews and business reviews for assigned businesses and store projects.

  • Partner with Marketing to drive best in class customer experience through consistent design and execution of all communication systems and executions across store space.

  • Partner with Product, DACI, and Engineering teams to ensure stability of existing tech and development of new tools that drive category growth through analytical decision making and efficient execution.

  • Build and manage a global operating model (Mooresville and Bangalore) that delivers timely and high-quality execution of projects through thoughtful and ongoing integration of team culture, routines, functional training and business context.

  • Lead annual capacity planning and resource modeling conversations using historical data and forward-looking strategic plans. During the year, help all capability areas across the department balance workload and resources in response to shifting business priorities.

  • Hire, train and develop a team of leaders and experts that utilize a balance of design thinking and data driven problem solving to drive business growth. Coach associates to achieve personal and professional goals and aspirations.

  • Communicate with multiple levels of Sr. Leadership across merchandising, supply chain and store operations, on projects and initiatives. Provide ongoing status updates, recommend mitigation tactics, and course correct decisions, to drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree In business, merchandising, finance or related field and 12 Years Relevant experience

  • 12 Years Leading distributed workforce

  • 12 Years Working with senior leadership; working with revenues in excess of $100M; big-box home improvement retail; managing a P&L; in store ops and/or deployment
