Your role

Assigned to the Centre de l’information (newsroom environment) – Please note the incumbent may be asked to work during the day, evening and weekends.

Reporting to the departmental manager, you present, short-list and edit a program. You are responsible for checking program requirements and technical quality. You program and operate the automated presentation switching system. You also supervise peripheral equipment such as the character generator, audio console, CCUs, robotics, intercom, graphics system, and weather system. You multitask while working in a live context. You guide the host during the production in order to ensure a quality presentation. You make technical and editorial decisions during the show all while respect our branding.

You are by nature outgoing and sociable which allows you to integrate easily within production and editorial teams in order to actively participate in producing related tasks such as the preparation of the show.

For reference purposes, tasks related to switching are approximately 60% and those for producing are 40%.

Please note this a casual opportunity (temporary, on-call employment).

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Electronics or Audiovisual

  • Experience as a Switcher/Producer

Skills:

  • Able to work well under pressure for extended periods with multiple people

  • Editorial judgment, leadership and decision-making skills

  • Initiative

  • Interpersonal and communication skills

  • Fluent in written and spoken French and functional English an asset

  • Good general knowledge

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Keen interest in working in a newsroom environment
