Your role

Reporting to the Manager, Controller, you will have to provide a high level of support in planification, budgeting, management reporting and financial forecasting.

This includes conducting detailed and complex analysis and research of financial information and other non-financial data to support those activities for Regional Services. You will identify opportunities for improvement in existing reports and processes and build new reporting to support the department. This role includes a broad range of financial and non-financial responsibilities and will allow you to get exposure to all areas of the department.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Reporting packages.

  • Prepare detailed analysis of business operations, including budget variances, recommending and implementing courses of action to maintain budget integrity.

  • Build new reports and develop processes on an ad hoc basis while identifying opportunities to improve existing reporting.

  • Vet expense claims and approve certain expenditures.

  • Assist with budget planning, allocate budgets and conduct analysis and forecasting.

  • Co-ordinate, track, control and reconcile program expenditures.

  • Interpret and enforce policies, standards, methods and recognized accounting practices.

  • Handle a variety of ad hoc requests.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

What you bring:

  • University degree in accounting or a relevant combination of education/experience

  • Professional accounting designation or active student of CPA accounting program preferred

  • At least three (3) years’ experience in accounting demonstrating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty or level of responsibility

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications; SAP, BW, TM1 experience is an asset

  • Self-starter and team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask

  • Superior investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement

  • Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines

  • Excellent command of French

  • Proficiency in English is an asset
