Radio-Canada News & Current Affairs is currently looking for on-call reporters with a wide range of interests (business/economy, politics, social media) to provide backfill support and ensure ongoing operations in the newsroom.

Reporters will be assigned primarily to produce content for all Radio-Canada platforms (TV, radio, digital). They will write articles and file stories per corporate standards and policies and find interviewees and prepare interviews.

We are seeking candidates for the following positions:

  • Reporter/Editor

  • Researcher

Please note these are on-call, casual, part-time opportunities and shifts may include being assigned to work flexible hours, including morning, day, evening during the week and weekends.

The Researcher position requires:

  • Two (2) years’ journalism experience

  • Very good knowledge of research tools and techniques

  • Comfort with gathering online research

  • Ability to convince potential guests

  • Considerable initiative and resourcefulness

The Reporter/Editor position requires:

  • Two (2) years’ journalism experience (an acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered)

In addition to the above-mentioned requirements specific to each position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Skills:

  • Extensive general knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of regional, provincial and national affairs

  • Solid command of writing and story research techniques

  • Solid command of the working language: French; very good knowledge of English is an asset

  • Good communication skills

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices an asset

  • Interest in and aptitude for learning new tools

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment while being self-starting and resourceful

  • Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines

  • Willingness to work flexible, irregular hours depending on the assignment

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Our selection process includes testing to evaluate your general knowledge, current events knowledge and French-language proficiency (spoken and written).

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
