Job Purpose
The Regional Director, Eastern Canada plays a key role in the execution of Canadian Wealth Management’s strategy by leading the delivery of Total Wealth Planning (TWP) and CanadianWealth Insurance Services across Quebec and Atlantic Canada. The Regional Director is a member of the TWP and Insurance leadership team, helping to transform and elevate wealth management’s financial planning and insurance offering. The Regional Director is a strong people leader and manager, responsible for attracting and retaining top talent and coaching their team to meet the needs of clients and internal partners.
As the leader of this team, the Regional Director will ensure that specialist coverage is robust and that stakeholders are being well-supported in growing and deepening client relationships. The incumbent will work closely with regional and local business line leaders and the rest of the TWP and Insurance leadership team, to drive engagement and awareness of financial planning and insurance solutions and to support the growth of CanadianWealth Management across the region.
Key Accountabilities
Strong people and business leader including:
Leading team through a period of change givenCanadianWealth Management’s growing focus on financial planning and insurance
Leading, coaching, and motivating the team to exceed nationally-defined goals and business plans and recognizing/rewarding performance excellence
Engaging in group and individual discussions with team members to identify and help solve obstacles, challenges, and needs, and to share key themes with the rest of the leadership team
Encouraging the effective use of tools that can be used to properly track pipeline of engagements and provide accurate reporting around activities and forecasting
Managing the territory coverage within the region, ensuring the business lines are well-supported and identifying any gaps or disparities and making recommendations around how to address them
Coordinating with other Regional Directors, Client Solutions and the leadership team to integrate relevant technical knowledge into their coaching and sales management activities
Preparing and managing a regional profit plan that aligns to the broader Client Solutions annual profit planning exercise
Managing the recruitment and onboarding of new specialists, including terms of employment, administrative requirements, real estate, and any other necessary support
Effective member of Total Wealth Planning and Insurance leadership team by:
Helping to shape the strategic direction of Total Wealth Planning and Insurance
Taking ownership of national initiatives related to the promotion, delivery, and support of Client Solutions
Participating in strategic discussions with the rest of the leadership team, that lead to the formulation, development, and implementation of business initiatives
Drive engagement of advisors and relationship managers around the Total Wealth Evolved offering by:
Developing strong relationships with advisors, relationship managers, Branch Managers, and Regional Directors across the business lines
Creating awareness within the region around the Total Wealth Evolved offering and the breadth and depth of capabilities within the Client Solutions team
Facilitating and/or delivering regional training initiatives and educational sessions aimed at improving employee understanding of our offering and various solutions
Helping local and regional leaders within the business lines to integrate Total Wealth Evolved and Client Solutions capabilities into their sales management and coaching activities
Lead the execution of the Canadian Wealth Management team-based offering by:
Fostering and developing a strong team environment that will lead to effective collaboration among team members and other local specialists
Maintaining a strong understanding and working knowledge of allCanadianWealth Management capabilities and promoting that same level of knowledge amongst the team
Ensuring business processes are followed and that there is strong coordination among specialists in the development and execution of recommendations and delivery of solutions
Helping advisor teams, either directly or through team members, to identify process improvements that will enable them to more effectively position and implement a total wealth approach
Engaging business line leaders, where necessary, to address concerns or roadblocks related to the positioning and implementation of total wealth solutions
Achieving desired business results connected to wealth planning engagements
Functional Competencies
Expert knowledge of the wealth management and financial services industry
Proven people leadership and people management skills, with sales leadership being an important asset
Strategic thinker who challenges the status quo, setting a positive example for change
Strong change management skills and ability to lead teams through change
Proven strategic and tactical planning skills and proven ability to execute against the plan
Knowledge of financial planning and/or insurance solutions, as well as client-facing experience are an asset
Solid understanding of Canadian Wealth Management objectives, strategies and structures
Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and the regulatory environment, new and existing Financial Planning & Insurance products & strategies
Ability to recruit and retain top talent
Educational/Work Experience
Undergraduate University Degree
Over 15 years of experience in the financial services and/or the wealth management industry
Industry accreditations (CSC, CFP, PFP, CLU, Insurance license) are an asset
