In accordance with the language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the selected individual must be able to communicate in English, in addition to French, as they will closely collaborate with other corporate groups primarily working in English.

As a key member of the Global Wealth Management Linguistic Services team, you will play an important role in our organization’s overall success. In your role, you will review high-profile documents. You will support the team with your layout skills and have the opportunity to be involved in various tasks, including project management. You will work on significant projects, leveraging your expertise to support our clients and organization. Your attention to detail will contribute to safeguarding the brands of Scotia Wealth Management, Dynamic Funds, Scotia Funds, Jarislovsky Fraser, MD Financial Management, iTRADE, and others.

This is a 100% remote position, so you should be comfortable working in this context. It is also possible to work from one of our offices in Canada, as needed.

Is this the right role for you? In this role you will:

  • Review source and target documents: Ensure that French matches English and perform a final quality check before publication. Verify term consistency within the document and ensure it is error-free. Check alignment and other layout elements.

  • Layout documents in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and proofread in other platforms such as Workfront and Knak.

  • Assist translation project specialists in project management and other tasks as needed.

  • Make occasional minor modifications to documents when no translator is available.

  • Manage and organize proofreading tasks.

  • Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Maintain style guides.

  • Deliver the best possible service and ensure service standards are met.

  • Collaborate with other team members.

  • Communicate with internal partners to clarify source text or request context details, escalating issues as necessary.

Do you have the requirements to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the financial services and corporate sector.

  • Relevant studies in translation, revision, linguistics, etc.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Excellent written and spoken Canadian French and Quebecois, and excellent proficiency in Canadian English.

  • Strong technology skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure both independently and as part of a team.

  • Adaptability.

While not essential, it would be an asset if you have:

  • A finance or marketing background

  • Experience working with computer-assisted translation software and translation project management tools is a plus.

Working hours

  • Working schedule can be negotiated (37.5 hours/week)

  • Overtime may be required in peak periods

  • Limited travel, mostly to Montreal if you are not from that area
