MD Financial Management, a division of Scotia Wealth Management, has an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and client-focused Associate Financial Consultant – Digital Channels to join our team.

Reporting to the Manager, Client Services & Trade Centre, as an Associate Financial Consultant – Digital Channels, you will be responsible for helping MD’s clients achieve their financial goals through an understanding of their personal and professional objectives, recommendation of MD products tailored to their specific needs, and the provision of timely and exemplary service.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • You will build rapport and trusted relationships with MD clients through active listening and by developing an appreciation of what’s important to them. You’ll recommend an approach based on their level of understanding and interest, tailored to their specific needs. You will help to promote MD products and services with clients and prospects, including “disengaged” clients.

  • You will be accountable for client contact preparation, documenting client notes in our CRM tool and identifying new business opportunities through the proactive mining of your book of business. You will also gather and input financial data resulting from client discovery conversations.

  • You will lead the collection of deficient Know Your Client (KYC) information on newly assigned and existing accounts, ensuring orders are suitable vis a vis client objectives

  • You will identify and develop new business opportunities to prospect and grow the client base, while ensuring retention of clients through trusted relationships and servicing your client book.

  • You will seek out new opportunities through the active mining of your book of business.

The Must Haves:

  • University degree in business, commerce or equivalent.

  • IIROC licensed as a Registered Representative (IIROC-RR) including completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) and 90-day training.

  • Life License (LLQP) and a willingness to complete other regulatory requirements. Completion of the Group Annuity Sector (PQPAV) (Quebec offices only).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of investment products.

  • Proficiency in Canada’s two official languages is required.

  • An appreciation of compliance – an understanding of MDFM internal trading policies, rules of the stock exchange, industry regulations and associated requirements, guidelines of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada and, an appreciation for Scotiabank’s commitment to ethical day to day activities and decisions.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.

  • A high level of comfort with technology to support virtual meetings and client relationship management software CRM.

  • Confidence – in yourself, in MD’s products, in asking for the business

  • Marketing Savvy – the ability to identify opportunities for new product and service enhancements.

  • A commitment to an exceptional client experience - regularly delivering an exemplary experience, ensuring accuracy
