Purpose

Leads and oversees the delivery of local support for estate and trust administration, as well as the management of less complex accounts, within the market. The incumbent also plays a key role in supporting the Market Lead in their leadership activities, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Oversees Trust Associates in the market, ensuring that all accounts and relationship managers have effective administrative support, that the team meets its service level commitments, and that all policies and procedures are being properly followed.

  • Provides coaching and leadership to Associate Trust Officers who may be managing less complex accounts and/or supporting other relationship managers on more complex files, ensuring they deliver a high-quality experience to clients, beneficiaries, and partners.

  • Supports the Market Lead in providing branch leadership and representing Scotiatrust within their local market, enhancing business visibility with partners and ensuring all team members are equipped to deliver their mandates and well supported.

  • Leads the regular monitoring of key branch activities, such as compliance reporting, overdraft accounts, cash management, etc., and the execution of related activities (e.g. Branch Oversight Review & Audit action items, fee collection, etc.).

  • Oversees the execution of documentation gathering and storage for the branch, ensuring that file management meets policy standards and that any backlog cleanup is addressed in a timely fashion.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education / Experience

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma

  • STI, MTI, or TEP designation preferred

  • Estate and Trust industry knowledge

  • Knowledge of and experience in Wealth Management industry

  • Strong communication skills

  • Effective people management and leadership skills

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
