KPMG Senior Consultant, Technology Risk Services - IT Audit in Montreal, Canada

Our Technology Risk Services team is growing. We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our dynamic team in Montreal.

Our IT audit service lines include:

  • IT in the External Audit: Assist KPMG Audit teams in both audit of technology and in leveraging technology in financial statement audits and integrated audits of financial statements and internal controls. Audit technology-related risks and controls and assist our Audit teams in addressing complex technology topics. Also, perform system implementation assessments both in support of external audits and in an advisory capacity to our clients.

  • Systems Assurance Services: Formal assurance on systems, processes, and controls, including Audits of Service Organization Controls (i.e., SOC 1 engagements under CSAE 3416, SSAE 18, and/or ISAE 3402), SOC 2 and SOC 3 engagements (systems security & reliability assurance), and other standards.

What you will do

  • Conduct assessments of IT risks and controls, including general IT controls and automated controls embedded within information systems in support of our external audit engagements.

  • Perform engagements within the context of supporting the external audit, or attestation engagements such as CSAE 3416 / SSAE 18 Service Organization Control (SOC) audits and assessment of controls.

  • Review new and existing systems in terms of adequacy of controls, security, operational considerations, conversion issues and project management assessment.

  • Identify and implement improvements in existing processes and procedures.

  • Evaluate the risks and the adequacy of controls associated with IT, applications, operating systems, databases and interfaces and business cycle controls.

  • Perform technical tests and domain research, record findings, conduct interviews, and communicate regularly with clients and resources.

  • Conduct risk and IT control assessments in support of maturity or compliance assessment missions.

  • Review existing and new systems to verify the compliance of controls, security measures, and operations.

  • Review security controls developed by clients and make recommendations.

  • Actively participate in cybersecurity system maturity assessments and third-party risk assessments.

  • Interact with various clients to understand their environments and needs; manage expectations of clients and different managers/partners.

What you bring to the role

  • Working towards one or a combination of professional designations in accounting, risk, cyber security or information systems.

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in assessing information technology or business process risk ideally within a large consulting practice.

  • Experience with different IT environments, IT General Controls and controls-based audits is preferred.

  • Good understanding of Industry standards and frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001 and 27002, NIST and COSO.

  • Some understanding of business risks, IT risks, and audit risks.

  • Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills being able to express insights, both written and orally.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and strong organization and analytical skills.
