Student and New Grad Opportunities

Team & Position Overview

FinDev Canada is seeking an Impact Data Junior Associate to join its Impact Strategies & Thought Leadership team, which is responsible for ensuring the strength and rigour of FinDev Canada’s approach to development impact, and generating and disseminating key insights on what we are learning. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented and client-focused team player to contribute to development impact through the private sector across emerging markets and developing economies.

Working closely with multiple teams across the organization, particularly the Impact Enablement team and the Digital Office, this role will support the modernization of FinDev Canada’s impact data management system by migrating data from various sources to a new data management solution and ensure the quality and reliability of data by performing data collection, data entry, data preparation and data analysis in the context of development impact.

Key responsibilities

As a member of the Impact Enablement team, reporting to the Director, Impact Strategies & Thought Leadership, the Impact Data Junior Associate will:

  • Work with the Impact Enablement team to source and gather impact data from various sources.

  • Clean and normalize data to ensure data quality and consistency.

  • Enter data accurately and efficiently into a data management system.

  • Perform data analysis on development impact and ESG data to uncover patterns and insights.

  • Support change management efforts by educating and engaging users of the new system.

  • Collaborate with the Digital Office to provide feedback and input on the impact data management application.

  • Provide support on other key projects of the Impact Enablement team as needed.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate degree program in business intelligence, analytics, data management, international development, economics, or another related field.

  • 1-2 years’ experience in data management in a comparable business environment.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Dataverse, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools.

  • Experience with agile methodology and Microsoft Azure DevOps.

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English) preferred.

Assets:

  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working with other Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) or Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).

  • Demonstrated understanding of, and experience with, economic and development challenges in FinDev Canada’s regions of operations.

  • Passionate about data management in the context of development impact and ESG.

  • Being a solution-orientated self-starter, with the ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong analytical and organization skills, with an eye for detail.

  • Demonstrating personal agility by adapting quickly to changing situations and demands.

  • Strong business communications skills, including writing and presentation skills; ability to convey complex concepts simply.

  • Fluency in Spanish.
