POSITION OVERVIEW

The Analyst, Corporate Financing ensures all loan servicing activities related to corporate financing loans are performed according to BDC policies, procedures, and audit guidelines. The incumbent also assist the Shared services Group in managing the corporate financing portfolio.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Ensure all loan servicing activities related to corporate financing loans are performed according to BDC policies, procedures, and audit guidelines.

  • Follow-up on outstanding items based on the specific process (i.e. financial statement request, loan balance confirmation, amendment, etc.) ensuring that the forms/information are accurate and complete and that requirements and signatures are obtained.

  • Ensure a profitable portfolio by monitoring client’s borrowing activities and to retain existing clients while performing the annual client file review.

  • Review financial statements and complete the necessary financial analysis/credit score/risk rating.

  • Actively address situations where potential risks are identified, such as arrears, risk degradation, declining financial results.

  • Proactively manage corporate financing loans by developing “watch list” strategies to minimize risk of loss and changing credit needs through communication with Credit and other internal partners to restructure deals, remediate risks and minimize loss.

  • Authorize, decline or recommend service requests within established parameters and ensure a high calibre of analysis and due diligence on all amendments and service requests.

  • Maintain relationships with colleagues and internal partners to foster good teamwork and the pursuit of common objectives and the consistent application of policies.

  • Coach, mentor and share expertise with team members.

  • Keep abreast of trends in credit and regulatory issues that may have an impact on BDC.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s in commerce, Finance or Business Administration with a major in accounting or another relevant field.

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience

  • Strong Canadian GAAP and IFRS knowledge

  • Analytical business sense

  • Ability to analyze complex financial structures

  • Sound commercial credit judgment coupled with a strong understanding of credit policies and practices

  • Ability to identify and resolve issues

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Highly organized and proactive

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Bilingualism (French, functional English)
