Job Description Summary

As a Staff Software Architect in Platform Operations you will act in technological duties associated with Cloud and Big Data Technologies and Solutions in order to support the Data Ingestion, Transformation and Delivery to Business. Supporting maintaining, managing and providing guidance and best practices to the Data and Analytics organization to improve and enhance the Data Platform Architecture.

A self-driven individual in an environment that will not micro-manage daily duties.

This assignment is to support the Gas Power Data Platform in the Cloud and On-Premise environment and act as a key contact to the Data Architects for the design of new data solutions.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Participate in the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction.

  • Assist in the analysis, design and development of a roadmap and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.

  • Gather and analyze data and develop architectural requirements at project level.

  • Participate in the Enterprise Architecture governance model.

  • Support the development software and data delivery platforms with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.

  • Provide ongoing support for the services and applications that are critical to our business needs.

  • Demonstrate technical expertise across data lake technologies to efficiently troubleshoot and improve application performance and availability

  • Provides impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment.

  • Define root cause failures and develop solutions for proper controls/prevention.

  • Assist and support proof of concepts and new technology introductions for installation, configuration and validation

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with significant post-Bachelor’s degree related experience.

  • Strong Experience with Technology Platform in Infrastructure and Architectural Design in Cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure.

  • Experience with Data Integration and transformation technologies such as HVR, Informatica, Talend.

  • Expertise in operating, supporting, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

  • Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive.

  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts.
