Atrium Health Director - Operating Room - Perioperative in Monroe, North Carolina
Job Summary
Supervises and coordinates clinical and administrative functions for the department and ensures that optimal, quality patient care is provided using resources effectively and efficiently. Functions as a liaison for clinical staff and maintains overall responsibilities for the supervision of clinical staff assigned to all areas.
Essential Functions
Supervises and coordinates all aspects of the department's clinical environment.
Recommends adequate coverage of all units in the department and monitors staffing needs to meet standard productivity levels.
Plans education programs, evaluates team member performance, schedules team members, counsels and disciplines team members.
Prepares unit budget data as requested and projects capital needs for each area of responsibility. Monitors financial budgets and justifies variances.
Monitors progress of each clinical area and assists unit leaders in achieving goals and objectives. Recommends space and other resources as needed.
Monitors monthly patient satisfaction scores and takes appropriate action.
Maintains current and accurate policies and procedures for services rendered on all units that meet JCAHO standards and monitors compliance.
Participates and communicates with unit leaders to ensure that daily operating needs are met.
Physical Requirements
Continuously be able to stand, walk, have use of both hands and all fingers, speak clearly, hear, and see less than 20 inches and at a distance of more than 20 feet. Requires ability to use side vision, lifting, pushing, and pulling of 51 pounds, twisting, bending, reaching overhead and in front of body if necessary. Occasionally, must climb stairs and 10 inch step stool, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch; have depth perception and distinguish basic colors. Requires inside work with occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals.
Educational Experience
Graduate from accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Master’s in Business Administration of Health Administration required. Minimum two years previous O. R. or Perioperative experience required. Management experience required, preferably including experience in an ambulatory setting.
