Novant Health Communications Center Specialist in Monroe, North Carolina

Overview

The Communications Center Specialists are the “epicenter” of the Novant Health physical security program. These team members are responsible for thoroughly understanding all Public Safety DPS programs/applications, Novant Health facility locations, Public Safety protocols, and Public Safety policies. They must be self-motivated, possess critical thinking skills, be able to function under high stress, contribute to a team environment, and communicate information clearly in a timely manner. A Communications Center Specialists works in the Security Operations Center which is responsible for dispatching Protective Services for Novant Health involving high volumes of radio traffic and monitoring of status changes during routine and emergent situations. Calls and messages include routine reports, referral information, and emergency calls for assistance from team members, visitors, patients and Public Safety personnel. Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Some College Courses Preferred.

  • Experience: Satisfactory experience as a Communications Technician, Emergency Telecommunications Specialist, Dispatcher, - Preferred Related experience will be considered.

  • Licensure/Certification: Crisis Prevention Institute Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Crisis Communications, or CIT within 1 year of hire; APCO Public Safety Tele-communicator I and RQI Responder certified within 6 months of hire, required.

  • Additional Skills Required: DPS, Security, law enforcement or military communications experience.
