The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve mechanical equipment and components. These components may include:
Pneumatic and hydraulic components
Gearboxes, couplings and power transmission systems
Bearings and lubrication practices
Pumps, valves, pumping and piping systems
Clutch, brakes and drive components
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve systems components. These activities may include:
Motors, drive control components and I/O
Working knowledge of controls programming
Electrical sensors and field devices
Network systems and communication
Perform basic fabrication and machining tasks:
Set up and operate shop equipment and portable power tools
Set up and perform basic stick/mig welding tasks
Use precision measuring equipment for machining
Maintain and improve vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, chemical feed pumps, centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, vane pumps, auger and screw pumps and pneumatic diaphragm pumps.
Perform millwright tasks:
Moving material, equipment and machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding and rolling. Level and tram rolls
Troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical equipment and may include:
Replace and wire motors
Replace or adjust micro switches, proximity switches, photo eyes etc.
Perform Preventive, Predictive, and Emergency Maintenance inclusive of:
Production equipment, material handling equipment, safety devices and facility utilities following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals
Set-up PM’s on new equipment
Update PM’s on existing equipment for frequency and job plan
Follow the maintenance work management process, which includes utilizing the maintenance management software to identify equipment problems, obtain parts, document findings, track personal labor hours and material on jobs, capture repair history, etc
Calibrate/repair process control instrumentation and sensors
Troubleshoot and solve complex electrical systems and design problems.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
Must have 3+ years of Maintenance experience in Industrial/manufacturing setting
Must have High school Diploma/GED or equiv.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Associates degree in an engineering related field (Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or industrial maintenance field.
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
Travel: Is not required
