The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an EHS Engineer , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing technical expertise on all aspects of the site’s EHS compliance efforts including but not limited to Regulatory Permits, Management of Change (MOC), Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, Fall Protection, LOTO & Machine Guarding, and Emergency Response Coordination

  • Supporting the development and delivery of required EHS training to plant personnel

  • Ensuring durable regulatory compliance around three main environmental areas - Air, Water, and Waste and represent the site during internal and regulatory audits

  • Overseeing all site regulatory permits including Title V, Stormwater, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste, and Mining permits

  • Maintaining appropriate recordkeeping documentation to comply with all regulatory requirements and programs (i.e., MSHA and NCDEQ)

  • Leading cross functional teams through EHS incident investigation and root cause analysis

Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years EHS ( Environment, Health, & Safety ) experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience leading EHS projects and creating departmental and Continuous Improvement targets

  • Experience ensuring compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act

  • Working knowledge of Title V air permitting & ISO 14001

  • Five (5) years mining and/or manufacturing experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or EHS discipline from an accredited institution

  • Proficiency with SAP enterprise software

  • EHS related certifications are a plus (QEP, CHMM, CSP, ASP, CIH, etc.)

Work location: Pittsboro, NC

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
