Element Fleet Management Director, Operational Controls in Mississauga, Ontario

We are looking for a Director, Operational Controls who will play a critical part in engineering top-notch products and services in a unique industry and at a rapidly growing organization.

As the Director, Operational Controls, you will you act as overall owner for operational compliance with SOC standards, ensuring successful attestation by working closely with various operational teams to minimize risk, implement new standards, and enhancing operational processes. You will lead the development and implementation of audit routines to monitor performance of critical elements within operational processes, communicate results to all stakeholders, and support external auditors in their compliance assessment. The Operational Control Director will be responsible for identifying process and business risks as well as developing, monitoring and maintaining robust processes which are documented and strongly controlled.

A Day in the Life

  • Work with process owners to introduce, implement and maintain frameworks and practices required for successful SOC 1 Type 2 Attestation, inclusive of process and risk documentation.

  • Analyze findings, identify trends or issues and make recommendations based on data.

  • Responsible for leading compliance focused projects that are tied to the policies, standard operating procedures, and risk assessments.

  • Perform and document root cause analysis, identifying recommended remediations and monitoring activities for key operational controls.

  • As necessary, work closely with compliance to develop guidelines that mitigate business risks, allowing for the effective and efficient processing of transactions.

  • Support compliance reviews to ensure key process controls are on place, maintained and performing as designed.

  • Ensure compliance practices are kept up to date and present at all times.

  • Identify opportunities to automate processes for sustained improvement.

  • Participates in and provide support to external auditors for compliance audits, agreed upon procedures, and internal control audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus

  • Project Management or Black Belt Certification a plus

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience, including experience in a multinational company managing multiple & complex processing and requirements at the same time

  • Experience in a compliance, risk advisory or audit role at a high-growth company, ecommerce or startup

  • Extensive experience assessing process risk and implementing a robust control environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to deal with complex problems, influence others and present recommendations and findings in a clear, concise format

  • Pro-active, self-empowered; ability to thrive under pressure; Champions change in a passionate, convincing manner that garners support

  • Outstanding team player committed to success; capable to work within cross functional team in a fast-paced, changing environment; drives enthusiasm and optimism through teams and the broader organization
