Atrium Health Manager - Atrium Health MedCenter Communications Center Mint Hill FT in Mint Hill, North Carolina

Job Summary

Directs and oversees the Communications Center and the dispatching of a variety of Mobile Medicine operations including MedCenter Air, Community Paramedicine, Passenger Services wheelchair vans, and other contractual agreements with departments holding mobile assets used to provide patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures that all regulatory agency requirements are met and attends meetings affecting operations with various agencies.

  • Ensures that Mobile Medicine area of responsibility is available for 24/7 emergency response as needed.

  • Maintains records verifying operational readiness of all equipment and assets of assigned area of Mobile Medicine.

  • Meets with direct reports on a routine basis to provide feedback, reviews quality of work, and reviews expectations, goals and accomplishments.

  • Hires and trains team members in assigned area of responsibility.

  • Monitors the performance and productivity of all direct and indirect reports and ensures that all personnel function within their scope of practice as defined by N.C. regulations.

  • Schedules and conducts team member meetings to communicate departmental and organizational changes.

  • Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures for best and most efficient practice. Meets with team members to identify and resolve problems; this includes all safety policies, procedures, and the departmental emergency response plan.

  • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommends within departmental and organizational policy, appropriate service and staffing levels.

  • Develops internal and external partnerships to ensure success in areas of responsibility.

Physical Requirements

Require working and driving in all weather conditions to include exposure to extreme heat, cold, and wet weather. Must not have any physical, emotional or mental impairment to prevent them from riding, driving, or operating in a company owned vehicle. Work areas may include tight spaces and poorly lit conditions. Requires exposure to possible unpleasant conditions and/or handling of contaminated materials. Requires the ability to function in high stress situations and must have the ability to critically think and make rapid and appropriate decisions that ensure the safety for both patients, the public, and teammates. Must have the ability to concentrate. Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Heavy lifting required, with assistance of a partner to load patients, equipment, and be able to carry heavy equipment. Significant physical stamina and endurance necessary to perform duties. Must be able to lift 250 pounds with one assistant. Must have intact sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch and good finger dexterity. Good motor and eye-hand coordination required. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include, but not limited to, speaking English in good, understandable terms.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Previous experience in healthcare setting, emergency management, or administration required. 2 years of management or leadership experience preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to drive vehicles safely in all types of weather. Knowledge of healthcare, EMS systems, and other regulating organizations including but not limited to TJC, CAMTS, local, state, and federal regulations required. The ideal candidate would have experience in leading a transport dispatch or communications center.
