We have an opportunity for a Business Analyst to work with our group. As a Business Analyst, you will be empowered to support short and long term operational / strategic business activities; develop, enhance and maintain operational information and models that will have an impact on business decisions. In this leadership role, you will have the opportunity to take the contributions of analysts and create valuable solutions to improve the health care system.

Become a part of the UHC Correspondence Management & Development Team. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end business process activities around our claims related member fulfillments, such as the Explanation of Benefits, Integrated Denial Notice, and Member Remittance Advice. Our team manages and improves processes along the way, serving as liaison to various Business partners across the organization, as well as both upstream data/claims applications and downstream print and archiving applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate and support of project teams; responsible for implementing portions of project plan

  • Work with assigned business customers to determine needs regarding business processes and functionality, make recommendations as appropriate

  • Organize and facilitate problem - solving discussions with business sponsors and IT Management to resolve issues requiring a focused approach to maintain project continuity

  • Assess, interpret, and analyze customer needs and requirements

  • Analyze and evaluate both current and proposed business processes, perform gap analysis, and translate systems needs into detailed business Requirements / Specification Documents

  • Analysis and design of Business Process Models for identified areas within an assigned project

  • Actively participate in business unit related meetings

  • Support the business unit officers by acting as a liaison between business unit and IT staff; share information between these two groups, facilitate communications and knowledge transfer where required

  • Provide alternatives, recommendations and assistance to users, managers, and executives, related to the requirements and new business processes

  • Provide assistance and support in process change planning, including the definition and design of business processes, policies, and procedures for impacted areas of the business

  • Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems

  • Solves complex problems and / or conducts complex analyses

  • Support application testing strategy and execution with project teams to ensure solution will meet the business objectives of the requirements

  • May lead and / or mentor other associates; may assist management and / or provide recommendations for associate development, training and input for performance appraisals

  • May develop company / department strategic business plans and / or action plans including identification of objectives, goals and strategies

  • Facilitate requirement gathering from non - technical business personnel

  • Articulate complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicate project objectives, scope and direction to the project team; assist in educating IT staff on business vision and plan

  • Work with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks

  • Works with a sense of urgency and provides quick response times

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a Business Analyst facilitating and documenting requirements (such as process flows; use cases; and / or business requirements documents) gathered from both business and IT counterparts

  • 1+ years of proven success in leading programs/projects through the entire life cycle

  • Demonstrated experience in participating in system application design, process modeling, business value analysis and business process design and in developing and writing clear functional / technical business requirements

  • Knowledgeable in software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, roles, responsibilities and deliverables

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programs including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Has previously worked or is currently working as a contractor placed at UHG or one of its subsidiaries or affiliates

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute project plans including work breakdown, resource estimates activity planning, resource scheduling, project administration, and status reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst and/or Data Analyst

  • 1+ years of experience in Healthcare / PBM

  • 1+ years of experience with SQL

  • Experience with requirement Writing tools (Agile, Raven, ReqPro)

  • MS Project and Visio experience

  • Thorough understanding of healthcare systems (authorizations, claims, referrals, eligibility, provider, etc.) and PBM; medical terminology; and PPO / managed care concepts

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and apply knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly variable, virtual and matrix environment

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with various levels of personnel, including middle, senior, lead positions as well as various levels of management

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve including prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects and deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to shift priorities quickly

  • Proven skilled in authoring business requirements documents and other documentation as needed

  • Proven negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills

  • Proven solid analytical skills

  • Proven excellent ability to communicate ideas and analysis in a clear, quick and concise fashion to clients and colleagues

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
