The UHC Innovation Team is responsible for accelerating growth opportunities for all populations served by UnitedHealthcare. Serving as a dedicated group exploring growth opportunities in close partnership with UnitedHealthcare senior leadership, internal business unit leaders and external solutions partners, the UHC Innovation Team enables continuous business focus on disruptive concepts. As part of the UHC Growth Office, the UHC Innovation Team collaborates directly with executives across the healthcare industry and enjoys access to leading healthcare ecosystem stakeholders including entrepreneurs through management of the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator.

As a member of the UHC Innovation Team reporting to a Senior Director of Innovation, the Product Innovation Manager is a responsible partner charged with exploring and developing new business models and alternative sources of growth. The Product Innovation Manager will collaborate with internal and/or external partners, to define and advance concepts and develop and execute hypothesis tests to demonstrate business value and impact and specify pathways for scale.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strong collaborator, and naturally curious about how technology enables innovation. Product Innovation Managers are accountable for new product initiatives, including research efforts, investment opportunity analysis, concept development, business case analysis, and hypothesis test development and execution.

As part of a team challenged to look beyond the way things are now and focus on what could, should and will be and the Product Innovation Manager will play a critical role in promoting these conversations within the team and our business. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts primary and secondary research to define business opportunities

  • Develops data analyses and associated business case / investment thesis

  • Develops and manages a project plan and manages resources

  • Execute development of strategic projects

  • Assembles recommendations on future business models and potential impact

  • Develops status reports and collaborates openly with leadership and appropriate business partners

  • Develops presentations and materials for use both internally and externally to support storytelling

  • Prepares executive briefing materials

  • Manages contract development

  • Apply a disciplined approach to observing details in team outputs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3+ years consulting, strategy, product or business development experience

  • Experience developing growth concepts for organizations

  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Solid understanding of digital technology and digital experience

  • Technical fluency - comfortable with current and emerging technology methodologies

  • Ability to work in Minnetonka, MN and travel as dictated by business and customer needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree

  • Healthcare experience

  • Financial modeling experience

  • Start-up experience

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, pivoting and high-pressure timelines / goals

  • Inherent curiosity and an active contributor in group ideation and other collaborative settings
