The Clinical Workforce Planning Consultant will serve as an important connection between the UnitedHealthcare Community & State, National, Clinical, and local Health Plan Clinical Operations teams to support best-in-class care management operations and ensure financial viability of the programs. This individual will support clinical staffing models to evaluate and monitor clinical staffing levels using data-driven reporting, identification of variation and opportunities for productivity enhancements. They will build a comprehensive market-specific clinical staffing model for each Health Plan and execute a change control process to account for regulatory changes, affordability project and/or vendor or innovation solutions. Through this work, this individual will identify process improvement opportunities and work in close partnership with the Health Plans as well as Clinical Operations, Adherence Advancement, Training, Capabilities and Medical Economics teams to drive success.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of clinical operations and care management, basic project management skills and working knowledge of time studies and organizational structure optimization.

Evaluate staffing ratios, stratification of care, overtime, agency usage, or level of position to effectively manage labor expenses
Consult on standard time measures; manage work study and work analysis, analysis of work samples, and developing methods of measuring work performance
Analyze business process information (e.g., metrics; analytics) to identify key issues, trends, and potential root causes (e.g., training issues; lack of understanding by user community) that point to improvement opportunities
Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, deployment of technology, and tool development
Track and monitor progress on all potential efficiencies identified with a prioritization process that helps focus limited resources on those potential efficiencies that have larger impacts or potential for multi-market impact and control ROI reporting of all potential opportunities
Generate local, regional, and national reporting on current versus expected clinical staffing levels
Understand the impact of contract changes, affordability projects and/or vendor/innovation solutions on the base staffing model and the associated administrative costs
Propose and obtain approval for capital expenditures for medical and clinical operations
Develop and deliver presentations to C-Level audiences

3+ years of healthcare work experience including Managed Care experience, healthcare administration and/or healthcare consulting experience
2+ years of experience with designing or evaluating clinical case management program staffing design
Experience within healthcare operations, clinical services, network, products, and benefits
Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into action plans and lead / motivate teams to execute plans effectively; flexibility to adapt and change direction as needed
Experience with managing work study and work analysis, analyzing work samples, and developing methods of measuring work performance
C&S Health Plan clinical experience
Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
Proactive ability to find and define problems, understand business impact, identify solutions and provide recommendations for corrective action
Ability to adapt and excel as a team player in a fast-paced and change-oriented environment
Customer-focused; proven ability to handle complex situations, resolve conflicts and issues effectively. Sensitive to how people and the organization function
Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma or similar methodologies

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
