UnitedHealth Group Sr. Director Strategic Design & Investment in Minnesota

The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Director Strategic Design & Investment will be to maintain accountability and strategically consult with Product, Operations, and Finance Senior Leadership to design and manage the portfolio and roadmap. This Director will have end-to- end accountability for managing and maintaining capital allocation, resource allocation, and channel strategic roadmap and priority for a channel(s) across Population Health Solution and Prevention.

Additional responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure integration and consistency across channel initiatives

  • Drive execution of value realization, and help remove barriers where needed

  • Provide and communicate realistic risk vs. benefit analysis to Product and Operational leadership

  • Support messaging, tracking, and negotiating across the channel portfolio programs / projects, resource allocation, resource requests, program roadmap / strategy, and capital investment / budget

  • Accountable to educate the stakeholder on capital: Processes, templates, and timing for deliverables

  • Develop and drive a program status, updates, decision making, and executive governance framework

  • Deliver context across the teams regarding scope, measures of success, change management, risks, etc.

  • Support creation of various deliverables including a monthly artifact that will be shared with Product and Operations Senior Leadership that provides status and visibility to the strategic roadmap, capital investments, resource allocations, and program success / risks across Population Health Solutions and Prevention Operation

  • Bring thought leadership, change design, and consulting "mindset" to drive transformational change

  • Provide guidance, expertise, and/or assistance to internal and/or external partners to ensure programs and strategies are implemented and maintained effectively

  • Incorporate operations program performance information into strategic business planning

  • Lead team (2 initially) of Sr. Clinical Program Consultants

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in business, finance, communication, strategic management, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in tracking and planning projects and portfolio planning

  • 2+ years of experience working directly with capital management / financial strategy at leadership level

  • 2+ years of experience managing staff

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, collaborating and influencing without authority

  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Operations leadership experience

  • Experience leading teams in a matrixed environment

  • Understanding of working with Agile methodology
