Job Description:
Experienced in-house counsel with background in life insurance and/or annuities. Experience advising insurance business partners on the resolution of in force management issues, supporting the business and other GCO colleagues in responding to market conduct exams and regulatory inquiries.
New York Residents Only: The estimated base salary for this role is $162,600-$219,400 / year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that support all aspects of your health and well-being.

Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance and support on issues affecting the administration of in-force life insurance and annuities.
Assist Compliance and Regulatory Affairs in responding to market conduct exams and other regulatory inquiries pertaining to the life insurance and annuities.
Risk Management Support (for Life)
Train and develop a junior lawyer on in force management issues.
Provide legal guidance and support on Board Governance matters and the review of Holding Company Reports filed with regulators.

Required Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school
Admissions to a state bar
3+ years of life insurance industry or life insurance regulatory experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize complex legal matters concisely and accurately.
Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence and the ability to liaison effectively with business partners.
A well-balance consultative approach and the ability to work with business and legal partners across all levels of the organization.
High level of integrity with strong decision-making skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Excellent judgment and ability to make independent
