Ameriprise Financial Technology Intern in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Ameriprise Financial has a global Technology team delivering technology solutions to support the evolving needs of our clients, advisors, and employees.

Technology Internship opportunities vary each year and may include the following job functions:

• Architecture

• Business and Data Analytics

• End user computing

• Front-end/back-end development

• Information Security

• Software/application development

• Technology Operations

Key Responsibilities

As a Technology intern, you will gain exposure to Ameriprise tools, applications, and software, contribute to team goals, and deliver projects and technology solutions – all while gaining a broad understanding of the Ameriprise Technology organization. At the end of your internship, you will present your work and reflect on your experience to our Technology leadership team.

Responsibilities vary depending on assigned projects(s) and may include:

  • Define business requirements

  • Develop, document, test, and modify new or existing code

  • Develop working knowledge of Ameriprise systems, processes, data, and vendor tools

  • Learn and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to the development life cycle

  • Learn new programming languages

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement/automation

  • Participate in Agile team ceremonies

Examples of past intern projects include:

  • Cloud storage relationship model proof of concept

  • Automation of server start-up/shutdown and testing

  • Build and test web application features

  • Create dashboard reporting using PowerBI

  • Create new intake and tracking system

  • Data Lake and Data Analysis

  • Internal discovery search integration implementation and testing

  • SharePoint development

Required Qualifications

  • Current Junior at a 4-year university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Information Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

  • Graduation date of December 2025 or May/June 2026

  • Interested in gaining broad experience in Technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics

  • Proven organization skills and ability to manage time effectively

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work and communicate collaboratively and constructively with others

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Prior classroom or project experience with software development/programming/coding
