Ameriprise Financial Senior Manager, Reinsurance Business Analyst in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Reinsurance Business Analyst to join our team! This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the reinsurance administration of the company’s reinsured life insurance, disability income and fixed annuities blocks of business. This includes leading the monthly premium billing and reinsurance claim recovery processes within the TAI reinsurance admin system, ensuring monthly billings and claim recoveries are performed with accuracy and timeliness, proactively ensuring all questions from reinsurers are addressed. You will also provide direct and indirect leadership to a support staff, collaborating closely with a Senior Manager, Business Analyst peer who is responsible for system maintenance, reporting and control environment function.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee monthly premium billing to reinsurers

  • Oversee reinsured claim recoveries are processed with high quality and timeliness

  • Ensure reinsurance program is in compliance with various reinsurance treaties

  • Serve as the primary liaison to all external reinsurers to ensure questions are addressed in a timely manner

  • Serve as the primary liaison to company underwriting, claims for all matters related to reinsurance

  • Work closely with the company reinsurance officer to problem solve more complex reinsurance issues

  • Manage domestic and offshore staff

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of life insurance and disability income products

  • Experience in leading an administration billing process

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis for issues that arise

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that provide the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external constituents

  • Strong leadership skills and managing domestic and offshore staff

  • Ability to analyze data with attention to detail and draw meaningful insights

  • Ability to interrelate and understand complex issues across multiple disciplines

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects concurrently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Life, disability and annuity reinsurance experience and/or knowledge

  • Prior experience in managing offshore staff

  • TAI reinsurance administration system experience

  • Reinsurance regulatory reporting experience
