This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Registered Nurse vacancies at the Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) - Minneapolis. Shifts to choose from include: Day (6:30 am - 3:00 pm) and Evening (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm) . Part-time positions available are 48 hours per two-week pay period and 64 hours per two-week pay period .

Eligibility for employer contributions (see below):

  • The 64 hours per two-week pay period positions are initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

  • The 48 hours per two-week pay period positions are initially eligible for partial employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

As a Registered Nurse for MVH-Minneapolis, you will provide professional registered nurse services in a long-term care, skilled care facility. These positions assess the needs of the residents, suggest appropriate nursing interventions, implement orders and routines, and deliver skilled nursing care. This position may also coordinate, delegate, and review work of other nursing staff members.

Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.

  • Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.

  • Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions.

  • Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.

  • Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.

  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make, or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.

  • Ability to teach self-help skills to residents.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility.

  • Long-term care experience.

  • Geriatric care experience.

  • Experience with MDS assessments.

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.

  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
