Join our team as a Prototype Fabrication Manager in Minneapolis, MN ! The scope of the Prototype Fabrication Manager involves leading a team of 8+ to perform all aspects of product development. This includes planning, execution, analysis, and documentation of work assigned. The primary measure of this position is the ability to plan and execute the work while meeting the customer requirements. Technical familiarity with the transport refrigeration industry and equipment is a plus.

This role will focus on supporting the proof-of-concept prototyping and build of our Thermo King products. Product designs focus on areas of Refrigeration, Controls, Electrical and Mechanical prototyping, and the buildup of a single component to complete units. Managers need the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams spread across multiple geographical regions. This requires strong project planning/management and organizational skills.

Work arrangement: This position has been designated as On-Site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide coaching and direction to engineering technicians to meet deliverables

  • Review work requests, drawings or prints, set meetings with requestor to determine the outcome of testing results

  • Maintain integrity of our engineering systems, encouraging adherence and creation of standard work.

  • Perform advanced engineering support functions including, but not limited to DFMEA (Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) and DFS (Design for Serviceability) collaboration with engineering project teams

  • Provide coaching/feedback to engineering project teams on requested work and risk evaluation

  • Maintain awareness of industry standards and best practices, particularly in the areas of technology and safety

  • Establish and maintain metrics appropriate to the performance of their area

  • Provide on-going technical training to engineering community and others as needed

  • Recognize future needs and drive strategies to improve project plans

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This role requires 5+ years of industry experience

  • People leader experience required (ideally 2+ years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field or equivalent related experience required

  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude

  • Project management experience required

  • Refrigeration system knowledge preferred but not required

Base Pay Range: $111,000 - $157,800 annually

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
