Summary

The Property Accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial matters related to assigned portfolio of properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for properties

  • Prepare and maintain monthly journal entries

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations for properties

  • Monitor and report daily cash activity for management review

  • Responsible for annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations

  • Prepare and review annual property budgets and reforecasts

  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested information in a timely manner

  • Regularly collaborate with property management staff on property and tenant related matters

  • Process and review lease abstract information

  • Other ad-hoc projects as required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 1 to 3 years previous accounting experience preferably in real estate or property management

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals

  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

  • Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Accounting or Business Degree

  • Work experience in real estate/property management

  • MRI Real Estate Software experience

  • Clearly communicate information (both written and verbal) to colleagues and key stakeholders

  • Navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, attend off-site meetings

  • Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
