Federal Reserve System Project Director / Supervisor for Content Strategy in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Public Affairs department builds public trust and understanding by sharing the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis' research, and activities in creative and engaging ways with the public. Our Strategic Communications team manages Bank-wide communications and develops strategic marketing and communications campaigns and projects, including writing, editing, digital marketing, website strategy and assets, video, media relations, creative direction, and production and design services.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the Content Strategist provides leadership to ensure that the Bank's content and communications engage our important audiences and the public, grow the Bank's initiatives, and are aligned with our overall communications strategy and core messaging. Each year, Bank researchers, regional economists, writers, and policy staff publish hundreds of pieces of content—ranging from short marketing promotions to academic research—on our website and other platforms. You will work with those colleagues to understand important projects, goals, and the content they are producing, and develop marketing and communications plans to showcase and share this work across all platforms.

The content strategist oversees the production of web content, email marketing campaigns and newsletters, and all other digital campaigns and engagement projects about where and how to promote and frame content to meet our goals. The content strategist ensures that all content and communication materials are reviewed and with the Bank's overarching goals to improve public engagement and improve its policy priorities.

Specifically, you will:

  • Enhance the effectiveness of the Bank's communications and strengthen its reputation by ensuring our content strategy reinforces our brand.

  • Lead the Bank's overall content strategy, including its editorial strategy, editorial calendar, and content development.

  • Lead a team of experienced content marketing and digital engagement professionals to ensure consistency in content and communications across all channels—web, digital, social, print—and adherence to core messaging, brand voice, style, and tone guidelines.

  • Review and provide direction for several content types, including long-form and feature stories, academic research, news stories and press releases, research and policy briefs, conference and event marketing, emails, web and social media content, video scripts, speeches, and reports.

  • Lead communications planning with clients from across the Bank, and within Public Affairs, documenting and building on those plans within agreed upon time frames.

  • Drive processes to improve communications, foster internal collaboration, and enhance efficiency.

  • Work with our data analytics team to create metrics and use that information to improve our content and audience strategy.

  • Experiments with new forms of content, delivery methods, technology, and processes to more effectively reach audiences.

  • Assume leadership on or participate in special projects in response to changing demands.

A requirement of this position is that you must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for an accommodation from the Bank's vaccination policy; the Bank will provide accommodations as needed by law for individuals unable to be vaccinated because of medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, public relations, or related field and at least 6 years of progressively responsible communications experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Project management, especially on large multilayered communications programs focused on a public audience.

Experience supervising staff, either directly or indirectly, as a project team leader.

Strategic and creative editorial, writing, and storytelling experience across all channels: web, digital, social, and print.

Experience writing and completing multichannel marketing-communications plans.

Experience managing a content strategy for a large organization and multifaceted communications initiative, keeping audience preferences and needs primary.

Experience developing strategic content, including marketing copy, long-form articles, emails, web content, video scripts, speeches, and reports. Experience directing the writing and production of others.

Familiarity with AP style conventions; excellent spelling and grammar skills.
